Pelosi Calls on Boehner to Remove Rep. Grimm from House Financial Services Committee
Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to House Speaker John Boehner asking that he remove Congressman Michael Grimm from his position on the House Financial Services Committee.
Below is the full text of the letter:
April 28, 2014
The Honorable John Boehner
Speaker, U.S. House of Representatives
H-232, The Capitol
Washington, D.C. 20515
Dear Mr. Speaker:
This morning, Congressman Michael G. Grimm surrendered to the FBI following his indictment on 20 criminal charges by a federal grand jury.
The indictment charges Mr. Grimm with perjury, wire fraud, mail fraud, obstruction of justice, obstructing and impeding tax laws, and conspiracy to defraud the United States – concealing more than $1 million in gross receipts and hundreds of thousands of dollars in employee wages.
These are very serious charges. Therefore, I request that you and your colleagues in the House Republican Conference remove Mr. Grimm from his position on the House Financial Services Committee, pending the resolution of this matter. I look forward to your response.
best regards,
NANCY PELOSI
Democratic Leader
