Pelosi Dear Colleague to Members Regarding National Security Experts’ Letter, Briefings on Iran Nuclear Agreement
July 20, 2015 |
Dear Democratic Colleague,
Last week, President Obama announced that the nations of the P5+1 had reached an historic agreement to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon. Since then, public sentiment has been very encouraging, favoring the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by nearly 20 points in a new poll. In terms of diplomatic experts, 100 former U.S. ambassadors, Democrat and Republican, wrote last week in strong support of the agreement.
Today, even more national security experts, of both parties, have sent a letter in support of this landmark agreement – which you can review by clicking here.
We have briefings on Wednesday and Thursday of this week from the Administration: in a classified setting to the full House on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Secretary Kerry, Secretary Moniz and Secretary Lew, and to House Democrats at a Leader's Meeting on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. with Secretary Kerry and Secretary Moniz.
As you may be aware, I believe that this agreement is a major accomplishment. I am pleased that the response thus far from House Democrats has been so positive.
Please let me know if you have a need for further information from the Administration or validation from others.
best regards,
