Pelosi Names Conferees to National Defense Authorization Act Conference
"Democrats stand for a strong national defense," said Leader Pelosi. "Our nation cannot afford House Republicans' blatant and dangerous budgetary gimmicks, which perpetuate instability and undermine our military's ability to plan and prepare for the future. House Democrats will work to craft a defense budget that provides the certainty and resources our Armed Services need to keep the American people safe."
"The Defense Authorization bill should be about keeping the American people safe. Unfortunately, House Republicans chose to make targeting LGBT Americans a top priority in their NDAA, enabling discrimination with taxpayer funds," continued Leader Pelosi. "As House Republicans attempt to codify hatred against LGBT Americans, our Democratic conferees will insist on removing this discriminatory provision from the Defense Authorization bill."
