Pelosi Names Jaime Lizárraga New Director of Member Services

January 7, 2008
Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi today announced that she has named Jaime Lizárraga as the new Director of Member Services.  Lizárraga, who currently serves as Director of Legislative Affairs at the House Financial Services Committee, will begin his new duties on Wednesday.  He brings 17 years of congressional service to his new job, as well as Executive Branch experience, having served at both the Treasury Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission during the Clinton Administration.

'Jaime's wealth of talent and knowledge are a perfect match for the challenges ahead,' Pelosi said.  'As Director of Member Services, he will be an enormous resource for my office and all Members of the Caucus.'

'I am excited for the opportunity to work along with Speaker Pelosi and the Democratic majority as we build on the success of the past year,' said Lizárraga.  'The Democratic Caucus is as talented and diverse as America and I am grateful to be part of moving the Democratic agenda forward into the future.'

Lizárraga earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California San Diego and a Masters in Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas, Austin.  He is married and the father of two young children--Victoria, 4, and Diego, 2.

Lizárraga succeeds Dean Aguillen, who recently departed the Speaker's office for the private sector.
