Pelosi Names Michael Long Senior Advisor, Announces Departure of Liz Pardue
Washington, D.C.— House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that she has named Michael Long as a Senior Advisor with member services, outreach, and floor management responsibilities. Long begins his new duties in January.
"Michael has long been a tremendous asset to my leadership team and our caucus," said Leader Pelosi. "His years of experience make him especially qualified for his new responsibilities, and I look forward to working with him in this new capacity to move our party and our nation forward."
Long has served as a member of Leader Pelosi's staff for nearly seven years, from Special Assistant to then-Speaker Pelosi to his current position as Deputy Director of Member Services where he serves as liaison to new Members, the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus, and contributes to the Leader's outreach operation.
A native of North Carolina, Long is a graduate of Elon University, with degrees in Political Science and Public Administration. He assumes the responsibilities of departing Deputy Director of Floor Operations, Liz Pardue, who is embarking on a year of travel. Before her time with Leader Pelosi, Pardue served for many years in key positions on the Democratic staffs of the House Appropriations Committee and the House Rules Committee.
"We are very sorry to see Liz go. We have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for her many years of dedicated service to the work of Congressional Democrats," Leader Pelosi added. "While Liz will be sorely missed in our office, we wish her all the best in this next adventure and all those that follow it."
