Pelosi Spokesman Statement on Chairman Ryan's Medicare Comments Today

June 16, 2011
Washington, D.C. - Below is a statement from Nadeam Elshami, spokesman for House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, in reaction to a statement on Medicare by Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan as reported in the Hill newspaper's article, "Ryan open to making Medicare plan optional."

"Republicans are not fooling anyone.  They voted to end Medicare and now they can't take the heat.  The only plan Americans want is called Medicare and we must strengthen it, not weaken it.  What you're hearing now is a lead balloon crashing to the ground."
