Washington, D.C. -- Below is a statement from Nadeam Elshami, spokesman for Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on House Republican Leader John Boehner's comments on extending the middle class tax cuts during his appearance on CBS's Face the Nation:

'While admitting to the importance of providing the middle class with tax cuts, House Republican Leader John Boehner is still championing tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires that will add $700 billion to the deficit.  Mr. Boehner also wants to roll back reforms that protect Americans against the recklessness of Wall Street that got us into this economic mess in the first place and repeal health reform to put insurance companies, not patients, back in charge.'
