Pelosi Spokesman Statement on House Republicans’ 2016 Agenda

January 4, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Drew Hammill, spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, released this statement on House Republicans' plan to spend the first week of 2016 voting on a budget reconciliation bill to defund Planned Parenthood and dismantle the Affordable Care Act:

"It may be a new year, but House Republicans are stuck in the same old toxic dead-end ideas.  Working families need jobs and bigger paychecks, but Republicans are spending the first week of 2016 attacking Planned Parenthood and trying to destroy the affordable health coverage of 22 million Americans," Hammill said.

"Once again, Republicans cannot contain their contempt for women's access to health care and affordable health insurance for working families.  Once again, Republicans are wasting time on a radical bill that will never become law – as Republicans celebrate their 62nd vote to dismantle the Affordable Care Act," Hammill continued.  "With this vote, Republicans have once again exposed the cruel hollowness of their 2016 agenda."

"Here's a New Year's resolution Republicans should think about: quit attacking the health care of America's women and working families."
