Pelosi Spokesman Statement on Leader Mitch McConnell’s Admission that Next Step on DHS Funding ‘Up to the House’

February 10, 2015
Washington, D.C. – Drew Hammill, spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, released the following statement after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell admitted that House Republicans' plan to tie funding of the Department of Homeland Security to radical anti-immigrant proposals that would result in the deportation of millions cannot pass the Senate.

"With only seven legislative days left before the funding for the Department of Homeland Security lapses, it should be clear to every House Republican what has been clear to the entire country for some time now: their extreme anti-immigrant riders are dead and cannot pass the Senate.  It's time for the House to pass a clean DHS funding proposal and stop playing games with the safety of the American people."
