Pelosi Spokesman Statement on Republican Senate Failure to Advance Budget

Washington, D.C. – Drew Hammill, spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, released the following statement on press reports that Senate Republicans are delaying marking up a long-promised budget resolution:

"Once again, Congressional Republicans are breaking promises and embracing their relentless failure to govern," said Drew Hammill. "With today's press reports, Republicans are evidently abandoning the April 1 statutory deadline for the Senate Budget Committee to report a budget resolution."

"Perhaps Republicans are having second thoughts about putting their special interest budget priorities down on paper for all to see," Hammill continued. "House Republicans' radical dysfunction has clearly infected their Senate Republican colleagues.  While Republicans abdicate their responsibility to advance a budget, Democrats will continue to press for a plan that creates good-paying jobs and grows the paychecks of hard-working families."
