Pelosi Statement Congratulating Congressman-elect Ted Deutch

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement congratulating Congressman-elect Ted Deutch on his victory tonight in Florida's 19th Congressional District:

'Congratulations to Congressman-elect Ted Deutch on a great victory tonight - for the people of Florida's 19th district and for the House of Representatives.

'As a community activist, lawyer, and state Senator, Ted Deutch has pursued a career defined by service, dedication to his fellow citizens, and an unyielding commitment to the common good.  In the state Senate, he became a champion of Florida's children and families, promoting public health and stronger schools for our children, and he led the charge to keep Florida taxpayer dollars away from the government of Iran or those perpetrating genocide in Darfur.

'In the chambers of the House, Congressman-elect Deutch will bring the same passion to the national stage.  His voice will prove critical in the ongoing fight to strengthen our economy, secure a better education for children, and protect the interests of our seniors.  He will continue to be a leader in bringing peace to the people of Israel and developing a stronger foreign policy to ensure the safety of every family.
