Pelosi Statement on Congressman Cramer's Decision Not to Seek Re-Election

'Congressman Bud Cramer has been an independent voice for his district, and a prominent moderate leader.  He has been a valued member of the Appropriations and Intelligence Committees, and as a leader in the Blue Dogs Caucus, a voice for fiscal responsibility.  He will be missed.

'Congressman Cramer's constituents have long benefited from his work to strengthen the economy of the 5th district of Alabama, and his advocacy on their behalf in the Congress.  All Americans have benefited by having been served by such a decent, serious, and thoughtful Member of Congress as Bud Cramer.

'He has spent practically his entire life in public service: serving in the Army, as a district attorney, founding a center to shelter and counsel abused children, and now, almost 18 years in Congress. On behalf of all his colleagues in the Congress, I salute Congressman Bud Cramer for his outstanding leadership.'
