Pelosi Statement on Deadly Tornadoes That Ravaged the South

Washington, D.C. -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today after tornadoes tore through five Southern states yesterday, causing widespread damage and killing more than 50 people:

'All Members of Congress join our nation in prayer for those coping with the devastation caused by storms that moved across the South last night.  To the grieving families who so tragically lost loved ones, I hope it is a comfort that so many people are thinking of you at this sad time.

'As the President said today, our prayers must be joined with help from the government for the survivors.  Congress stands ready to work in a bipartisan way to quickly meet the challenges of rebuilding the region.'
