Pelosi Statement After Democratic Leaders Meeting with HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan

Washington, D.C.  - Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the followed statement this afternoon after House Democratic leaders and committee chairman met in the Speaker's office with Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan.

"This afternoon, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan provided an update on efforts to reduce the home foreclosure crisis and the progress that President Obama's Make Home Affordable initiative has made.  Our Members will continue to provide feedback to the Secretary about the foreclosure situation and on ways to improve the response of mortgage servicers to homeowners who are seeking to modify their loans to avoid foreclosure.

"Providing homeowners refinancing alternatives is essential to getting our economy moving again.  We will continue to work with the Obama Administration and our colleagues in Congress to restore the American dream and keep Americans in their homes.'
