Pelosi Statement on House Republicans’ Fourth Vote to Block Clean Homeland Security Funding
February 26, 2015
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released the following statement after House Republicans voted for the fourth time to block a clean appropriations bill to prevent the Department of Homeland Security from shutting down on February 28.
"House Republicans' obstruction is as dangerous as it is incomprehensible. Republicans' grandstanding will shut down the Department of Homeland Security in two days, endangering the security of our entire country. A clean, long-term DHS funding bill is clearly the only way to avert this crisis. Yet Republicans continue to hold the safety of American families hostage.
"The world is far too dangerous for House Republicans to show so little regard for the security of American families. Time is almost up, and Republicans need to wake up to the destructive reality of their actions, and bring clean DHS funding to a vote immediately."
