Pelosi Statement on Nine Firefighters Killed in South Carolina

'The thoughts and prayers of all Americans are with the families of the nine brave firefighters who lost their lives last night in Charleston, South Carolina.  These nine firefighters lost their lives in a selfless act of service to their community.

'This terrible tragedy is a sad reminder of the daily acts of courage performed by all of America's first responders, who often sacrifice their own safety and well-being to protect us in our homes and neighborhoods.  I hope that it is a comfort to those who are grieving today for their lost loved ones and brothers that so many are thinking of them and praying for them at this sad time.'
