Pelosi Statement on Nominations of Julián Castro, Shaun Donovan
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Obama nominated San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro to be the next Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, replacing Secretary Shaun Donovan who has been nominated to be the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget:
"President Obama has made a wise choice in his nominations today – bringing fresh energy to the Department of Housing and Urban Development and shifting a steady and experienced hand to head the Office of Management and Budget.
"Julián Castro is one of our finest urban leaders; a man with bold vision and first-hand experience with the challenges facing our communities. His life is the embodiment of what is possible in America, and as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, he will work tirelessly to ensure that all Americans are able to achieve the American Dream.
"In nominating HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan to be the next Director of the OMB, President Obama has selected a trusted and respected public servant to a critical post in the Administration. With his innovative and experienced record, Secretary Donovan makes an excellent choice to fill the shoes of departing Director Sylvia Mathews Burwell.
"Together, these nominees will stand side-by-side with President Obama as we build a better future for our middle class, our communities, and generations to come. House Democrats look forward to working with each of them in their new roles."
