Pelosi Statement on Congressman Mark Takai’s Decision Not to Seek Re-Election

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement following the announcement that Congressman Mark Takai of Hawaii will not seek re-election at the end of his term:

"Mark Takai's commitment to strengthening, protecting, and serving our country knows no limits. In the U.S. Army, the Hawaii National Guard, the Hawaii House of Representatives and in the People's House, Congressman Takai has served our nation with great honor and dignity in every chapter of his life.

"While Mark has reached the difficult decision to not seek re-election, Mark's courageous decision to keep fighting for Hawaii's hard-working families throughout the remainder of his term, even as he fights cancer, exemplifies his bravery. He inspires us to strive with even greater urgency toward a moonshot to cure cancer. We are grateful for his service to our country.
