Pelosi Statement on Matthew Verderosa being Named Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released the following statement to congratulate Matthew Verderosa on being named the next Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police:

"Matthew Verderosa has dedicated his professional life to keeping others safe.  We are honored that he will take the helm of the U.S. Capitol Police.

"In more than 30 years in federal law enforcement – including service with the U.S. Supreme Court police – Chief Verderosa has served with integrity and led with dignity.  Chief Verderosa's leadership, expertise, and dedication ensures that we can continue to do our jobs with the knowledge that we are protected by our nation's finest law enforcement personnel.

"As we welcome Chief Verderosa, we thank Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine for his decades of distinguished service in law enforcement.  Every day, U.S. Capitol Police protect the People's House, Members of Congress, visiting dignitaries, Legislative Branch employees, and U.S. Capitol complex visitors.  Let us ensure that U.S. Capitol Police continue to have the resources needed to serve with excellence."
