Pelosi Statement on Rosh Hashanah
"Sunday evening marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. In the coming days, in Jewish communities across America and around the world, families, friends and neighbors will reflect on the past year and look toward the promise of the year ahead.
"Returning from Israel and the funeral of Shimon Peres, I am reminded of his legacy of eternal optimism and how he looked to the future with a vision of hope and promise. During this holy season, as Jewish Americans recommit to fulfilling the sacred call to repair the world and work toward justice for all, we can all embrace the call to rededicate ourselves to bettering the lives and communities around us.
"In celebration of the rich diversity of people of many religions, races, and regions who enrich our great democracy, let us each strive to remember the promise of a new year as we work together to create a stronger America for all. My best wishes for a Shana tovah u'metukah! May you and your loved ones have a happy, healthy, sweet and prosperous New Year."
