Pelosi Statement on the Retirement of Thomas S. Kahn

March 24, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi today released this statement following the retirement announcement of long-time Democratic Staff Director to the House Budget Committee Thomas S. Kahn:

"Tom Kahn has served the U.S. House of Representatives for more than 30 years, including more than 15 years as staff director of the House Budget Committee Democrats, both for Chairman John Spratt and Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen.

"Tom's expertise and experience have helped House Democrats and Democratic Presidents win big victories for the American people.  Tom was hard at work behind the scenes when President Clinton won his landmark bipartisan agreement in 1997 and when Congress passed the landmark Affordable Care Act for all hard-working Americans.  He has been involved in the debates surrounding almost all of the budget resolutions of the two decades.  Tom's experience and expertise have consistently proven their worth in our efforts to build budgets that invest in the future of hard-working American families.

"Tom has given more than 30 years of excellent and honorable service to the Democratic Caucus, the Congress and our country.  I join colleagues on both sides of the aisle in saluting his wisdom on the Budget Committee, and in offering my sincerest congratulations to Tom and his family as they begin the next chapter."
