Pelosi Statement on Passage of Sandy Relief Package

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement tonight after the House passed a package of aid and relief to assist the victims of Hurricane Sandy:

"At long last, Members of the House came together in a bipartisan way to uphold our moral obligation to the victims of Hurricane Sandy: to provide the assistance they need to continue the work of recovery.

"After 79 days, the families, small business owners, and communities of the northeast are one step closer to relief.  We look forward to the Senate passing this legislation and sending it to the President's desk so we can deliver critical aid to the millions of Americans caught in the path of the storm.

"Moving forward, let us pledge to never again allow politics to stand as a roadblock to relief for Americans in need.  Let us ensure that Congress will always honor its responsibility, in a timely fashion, to offer a helping hand to our fellow citizens in the wake of disaster."
