Pelosi Statement on Passing of Joan Mondale

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the passing of Joan Mondale, wife of former vice-president Walter Mondale:

"The arts have known few greater champions than Joan Mondale. She was a gifted artist and leading voice for the importance of cultural enrichment in American life.

"Her devotion to the arts was exceeded only by her devotion to her husband, Vice President Walter Mondale. Across more than four decades in public life, Walter and Joan's dedication to each other and to the nation they served never dimmed.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to Vice President Mondale, and the whole Mondale family, and we hope that it brings some comfort to know that so many mourn with them at this sad time."
