Pelosi Statement on President's Comments on Colombia Free Trade Agreement

April 22, 2008
Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today in reaction to comments in New Orleans today by President Bush on the Colombia Free Trade Agreement:

"The American people want solutions on the economy and less partisan rhetoric from the President.

"Democrats have repeatedly told the President we are willing to work with him in good faith to create jobs and restore our economic strength.  By removing the restrictive timeline on the Colombia Free Trade Agreement, Democrats voted to put the economic needs of the American people first.

"Democrats stand ready to work with the President to bring the Colombia Free Trade Agreement to a vote in the House, but the timing has to be that of America's working families, not the timing of the President."
