Pelosi Statement on Proposed Extension of FBI Director Mueller's Term

Washington, D.C.  - Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Obama announced that he is seeking a two-year extension for the 10-year term of FBI Director Robert S. Mueller.

"President Obama's announcement that he will ask Director Robert Mueller to serve for two more years will help ensure continuity and stability at the FBI and on his national security team.  Director Mueller has led the Bureau with a steady hand during tumultuous times.  He's demonstrated remarkable competence and the highest level of effectiveness, and in doing so has helped keep the American people safe.

"Director Mueller has been appointed to jobs by both Democratic and Republican Presidents and was confirmed with unanimous support in the Senate.  It is my expectation that he will again receive the bipartisan support for two more years of service that he richly deserves."
