Pelosi Statement on the Resignation of Congressman Rob Andrews
Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Congressman Rob Andrews announced his intent to resign from Congress later this month:
"Over the course of more than two decades in Congress, Congressman Rob Andrews has remained, first and foremost, a proud son of South Jersey and an unflinching advocate for his neighbors in New Jersey's First Congressional District. In that same time, Congressman Andrews has emerged as an essential leader on the central issues facing our country – the jobs of our workers, the health security of our families, the strength of our military, and the safety of our nation.
"From his home in Haddon Heights to the halls of the House, Rob Andrews has always stood firm for his core priorities. On the Armed Services Committee, he acted to protect our troops and bring our military into the 21st century. On the Committee for Education and the Workforce, he remained a faithful and effective advocate for investments in our infrastructure and for the fundamental rights of our workers.
"In few areas have his intelligence, eloquence, and legislative skill proven more valuable than in the fight to pass and promote the Affordable Care Act. Indeed, from the committee rooms to the House floor, he has remained a steadfast leader in the fight to secure access to affordable, quality care for millions of Americans.
"In New Jersey, Rob Andrews never failed to earn the trust of his constituents; in Washington, D.C., he always succeeded in securing the respect of his colleagues. He has been a critical voice for our Democratic Caucus and for the entire Congress, and his leadership and friendship will be missed. We wish him, his wife Camille, his children, and his entire family the best in their future endeavors."
