Pelosi Statement on Senate Confirmation of Jonathan Stivers as Assistant Administrator, USAID

December 17, 2014
San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after long-time staffer and Senior Advisor Jonathan Stivers was confirmed by the Senate to be Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia, United States Agency for International Development:

"Jonathan Stivers will bring to USAID the expertise, professionalism, and attention to detail that he has long contributed as an invaluable and well-qualified member of my team.  Jon has played a central role in advancing my foreign policy priorities, especially in the fields of human rights, appropriations, HIV/AIDS, international trade, and in countries across the Asia-Pacific region.  On the most challenging and critical issues of our day, he consistently exhibits the leadership needed to improve the global community.

"Over the years, Jon has worked closely with USAID and congressional committees to promote our national interests, fight poverty and disease around the world, and address ongoing challenges in global development across Asia.  Though we will miss his experience and expertise, I am proud that he will be serving these critical issues in his new position as Assistant Administrator for USAID for Asia."
