Pelosi Statement on Senate All-Nighter on Climate Change

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement regarding Senate Democrats' planned all-nighter to discuss on the Senate floor the urgency of tackling climate change:

"Global warming remains one of the most pressing issues before the world today.  Rising seas, savage droughts, and increasingly extreme and unpredictable weather patterns will impact every nation on every continent.  Climate change poses serious threats to our economic security, our national security, and our food security – and its damaging and destabilizing effects are already being felt throughout the world.

"Our investments in fighting climate change are investments in innovation, in technology, in industry and in jobs.  Our commitment to fighting climate change is our commitment to preserving God's beautiful creation for our children and our children's children.  Our dedication to this is our dedication to the future.

"The action of our colleagues in the Senate tonight, led by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, is to be commended.  Congressional Republicans should stop rejecting science, and start working with Democrats to move our nation forward towards addressing this critical challenge."
