Today, President Trump will be in Cincinnati, Ohio to meet with ‘victims' of the Affordable Care Act, just weeks after proposing a crushing $1.4 trillion in cuts to Medicaid in his budget and Trumpcare.

The real victims are the Ohioans who rely on Medicaid for lifesaving services for opioid addiction treatment and mental health care. And the Trump Administration's proposed Medicaid cuts would be devastating for Ohio where:

  • There was a775% increasein opioid-related deaths from 2003 to 2015.
  • Thanks to the Affordable Care Act,700,000 Ohioanshave enrolled in expanded Medicaid.
  • Almost $1 billion is spent each year directly dealing with the opioid epidemic. According to the Kasich's team calculations, about $650 million of that comes through benefits of the Medicaid program, with most of that directly due to Ohio's Medicaid expansion under the ACA.

Ohio Governor John Kasich even warned that, "Phasing out Medicaid coverage without a viable alternative is counterproductive and unnecessarily puts at risk the ability to treat the drug-addicted, mentally ill, and working poor who now have access to a stable source of care."

President Trump, why not focus on the real victims of your policies and make good on your campaign promises, instead of proposing unwise, indefensible legislation attacking our country's most vulnerable.
