Rep. Hall: "It Is Time We Reorient Priorities"
July 17, 2007
Last week the House passed the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act with the largest vote in favor of redeployment to date. As debate rages in the Senate, House Democrats are giving a series of one-minute speeches on Iraq. Rep. John Hall (NY-19) implores Senators to back up their calls for a new direction with votes for a new direction:
Rep. Hall: "In the latest example USA Today revealed that the Pentagon has been even slower than we thought in providing safer vehicles for our troops. According to emails within the Pentagon, a Marine General in Iraq requested MRAPs, Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, as far back as December, 2003. These vehicles offer the best protection from IEDs for our troops - the #1 killer of troops in Iraq are IEDs... It is time we reorient priorities, protect our own soldiers, and end this war." |
