This afternoon Rep. Tom Udall (NM-03) honored Army Sergeant James C. Akin, a native of New Mexico who lost his life to a roadside bomb in Iraq on June 3, 2007. He is one of 3,512 Americans who have given their lives to date.

Rep. Udall quotes Sergeant Akin:

"Live life to serve because you can. Dissent because you can. Enjoy freedom because you can. Remember always that the measure of our progress is not whether we can provide more for those who have plenty, but whether we can provide enough for those who have little."
