Republican Congressman: Instead of Wasting Taxpayer Money, Why Not Impeach?

Republican Congressman Walter Jones (NC) has come out in strong opposition to Speaker Boehner's perilous and meritless lawsuit against the President.  The reason?  He'd rather take up articles of impeachment against President Obama.  From the Hill:

Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) told The Hill that the lawsuit, spearheaded by Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), is "theater, is a show."

Jones, who will vote no on the legislation that is scheduled to hit the House floor on Thursday, said he prefers impeaching Obama.

"Why not impeach instead of wasting $1 million to $2 million of the taxpayers' money? … If you're serious about this, use what the founders of the Constitution gave us," Jones said.

In one fell swoop, Jones managed to validate everything that House Democrats and the American people have known about this sideshow all along:

  • As Jones says, Boehner's partisan lawsuit will waste millions of taxpayer dollars, and

  • The lawsuit will empower radical Tea Party Republicans to lay a groundwork to impeach the President.

Mr. Speaker, it's time to pay attention.  With time running out before Congress adjourns, we've got much more important things to do than waste taxpayer money by laying the groundwork for impeachment.
