Republican on #GOPshutdown: 'Didn’t Hurt GOP, Why Take It Off Table?'
…Didn't Hurt GOP, Why Take It Off Table?Rep. Raúl R. Labrador has a message for Republican leadership as they decide how to respond to the president's executive action on immigration and funding the government beyond Dec. 11: Keep a government shutdown as an option.
"I don't think anything is off the table," Labrador told reporters at the Capitol Tuesday…
Despite the fact that Americans and editorials blamed Speaker Boehner and Republicans for shutting down the government, including poll after poll, here's who their dysfunctional, obstructive, and distractive actions irresponsibly impacted:
- Costing our economy $24 billion,
- Costing the nation 120,000 jobs,
- Disrupting tourism and closing national parks,
- Shuttering essential services for veterans and military families,
- Reducing GDP growth by more than half a percentage point.
Those are the facts. That's how the shutdown hurt. Now it's time that Speaker Boehner and House Republicans stopped threatening another #GOPshutdown and remove this reckless threat off the table.
