Drew Hammill, spokesman for Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, said: "The latest Republican shutdown threat proves the GOP learned nothing from last year's Tea Party tantrum that cost the U.S. economy $24 billion and 120,000 jobs.  It's time for Speaker Boehner to stop monkeying around and put an end to the reckless shutdown talk."

From Roll Call:

Republicans Eye Obamacare Showdown in Lame Duck

A group of Senate Republicans have their eye on another Obamacare showdown in the lame-duck session…The 14 Republicans, led by Marco Rubio of Florida, wrote a letter urging Speaker John A. Boehner to "prohibit the Obama administration" from spending money on an "Obamacare taxpayer bailout."

If Republicans omit the language or explicitly prohibit spending on the program, that could provoke a shutdown fight…

A Boehner spokesman declined to comment when asked if he could rule out a shutdown showdown over the issue.

Time and again, we have seen Republicans' manufactured crises and special interest priorities working against middle-class families and costing our country jobs.  Speaker Boehner, Americans have had enough of the GOP dysfunction, distraction and obstruction – take the threat of another Republican Government Shutdown off the table.
