Speaker Boehner, the facts don't lie: the ACA works

Speaker Boehner said earlier today that the Affordable Care Act is "completely unworkable."

But here are some essential facts proving that claim otherwise:

  • 8 million Americans have signed up for quality, affordable private health plans in the new Marketplaces;
  • 6.7 million more Americans are now enrolled in Medicaid as compared to the period before ACA enrollment began;
  • 7.9 million seniors have already saved $9.9 billion on their prescriptions drugs, due to the ACA;
  • Young Americans are enjoying greater access to affordable health care coverage;
  • 76 million Americans in private health insurance plans are now eligible to receive expanded coverage for one or more recommended preventive health care services;
  • 74 percent of newly insured Republicans like their plans;
  • Gallup polls cite record lows in the uninsured rate;

Unworkable?  Hardly, Mr. Boehner.  It's time to drop the toxic obsession with destroying and dismantling the Affordable Care Act and the health coverage it offers so many Americans.  It's time to ensure that millions more Americans continue to gain affordable coverage.
