Speaker Boehner on Immigration Reform: 'Sooner We Do It, The Better Off' We Are

This afternoon, while pitching his so-called "five-point plan" at the American Enterprise Institute, Speaker Boehner said the following:

"Immigration reform will help our economy…we're a nation of immigrants, the sooner we do it, the better off the country would be." [9/18]

Mr. Speaker, Democrats and the American people couldn't agree more.  That is why we have called for you to bring H.R. 15, bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform which would reduce the nation's deficit by nearly $1 trillion, to the House floor for a vote.  It's time to fix the broken system, bring millions out of the shadows of fear, and spur the American economy.  As Speaker of the House of Representatives, you have the power to bring this bill to the floor for a vote.  The American people are only waiting on you.
