Speaker Boehner -- Put your money where your mouth is
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) criticized his GOP colleagues at an event in his district on Thursday for resisting immigration reform, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported."Here's the attitude. 'Ohhhh. Don't make me do this. Ohhhh. This is too hard,'" Boehner told the Middletown Rotary Club, mimicking some House Republicans, according to the Enquirer. "We get elected to make choices. We get elected to solve problems and it's remarkable to me how many of my colleagues just don't want to. ... They'll take the path of least resistance."
Speaker Boehner, last time we checked you and the House Republican leadership were in charge of what bills come to the floor for a vote.
If immigration reform is as important to you as you (repeatedly) say it is – bring H.R. 15, a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill, to the floor next week. We are confident it will pass.
191 House Democrats have signed onto the discharge petition to bring the bill to the floor and several House Republicans recently called on the GOP leadership to move forward.
79 percent of Americans say they support comprehensive immigration reform.
More than 600 businesses, including the Chamber of Commerce, religious leaders, and agricultural groups have called for action.
It's time to put your money where your mouth is.
