Speaker-in-waiting Kevin McCarthy Attempts to Backtrack on His Admission on Benghazi
Rep. McCarthy to Bret Baier. I did not intend to imply in any way that that work is political...it was never my intention to say that.
Those claims are a sharp contrast to what he confessed earlier this week:
"Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping...no one would have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen."
We hate to break it to you, Mr. McCarthy, but pure politics is what the Benghazi Committee to Investigate Hillary Clinton has been all about. In fact, your home state editorial, San Jose Mercury, states:
"Say this for Bakersfield Republican Kevin McCarthy: He speaks what he sees as the unfiltered truth."
Americans know exactly what you meant to say to Bret Baier: that you regret appearing on national television days earlier and freely admitting the truth about the Committee's appalling objective. Save it. Stop wasting Americans' taxpayers dollars. And disband this partisan committee now.
