Here we go again with the hollow weekly themes.  This time, it's the White House's ‘tech week,' and President Trump heads to Iowa to talk about agriculture and internet access in rural communities.

Oh, the irony.  Reality is, Trump's budget would:

  • Eliminate 19 independent agencies, slashingbroadband internet infrastructure projects in rural areas.
  • Slash Agriculture Department budget by almost a quarter, devastating agriculture in Iowa, which is ranked second in the U.S. in the total value of agricultural exports.
  • Drop federal grant funding to Iowa by more than $100 million, forcing the state to reduce services or find other funding for programs ranging from early education to job training.
  • Cut tens of millions of dollars from Iowa's infrastructure, including a rural program that helps small towns upgrade water, wastewater treatment, and storm water systems.

Meanwhile, the Republican Trumpcare bill would:

  • Increase Iowans premiums by $5,218per enrollee.
  • Kick more than 170,000Iowans off of their insurance by 2026.
  • Endanger the health of thousands of Iowans and the financial viability of the 118 community hospitals they count on.

The American people are still waiting for President Trump and House Republicans to stop with the hollow promises and empty rhetoric, and put forward legislation that actually creates jobs and improves the lives of hard-working Iowans and people across the country.
