U.S. House of Representatives Launches Diversity Employment Website
Washington, DC: Today, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Administration Chairman Bob Brady announced the roll-out of the U.S. House of Representatives Diversity Employment Website. Scheduled to go live by close of business on Monday, December 20th, the new website will allow candidates from across the country to input their vital information into a database that will be accessed by House Offices. This new resource will dramatically expand the candidate pool for House employment, while allowing candidates to voluntarily self-identify based upon several diversity categories.
"The halls of Congress should reflect the diversity of our great nation. With that in mind, I am pleased that we will offer this new employment resource for House offices," Pelosi said. "The new ideas, different ways of thinking, and varied perspectives that a diverse professional staff will offer, will strengthen our efforts on behalf of the American people."
In addition to serving as a conduit for their career and educational qualifications, as well as optional diversity information, The Diversity Employment Website will serve as an important informational resource for potential candidates. The site features detailed descriptions of congressional office positions, requirements and salary ranges, as well as information about working in the House of Representatives.
"The House of Representatives is a unique work environment with a distinct organizational culture," said Chairman Brady. "Anything that we can do to inform and educate potential candidates about expectations will directly impact their ability to succeed. This website will be an important tool in that effort," Brady added.
The Employment website will feature a searchable database function that will allow House offices to search for candidates based upon their professional qualifications. By serving as an additional search mechanism, the website is expected to be an important tool and resource for Member Offices.
