While GOP Leaders Overlook Majority Support, House Democrats Continue to Fight for the Ex-Im Bank!

The expiration date for the Export-Import Bank is looming.  Yet earlier today, House Financial Services GOP Chairman Hensarling simply said he will take a glance "at legislation supported by a majority."  [5/20/15]

Speaker Boehner, Chairman Hensarling and GOP leaders – this is insufficient.  There are 189 Democrats and 58 Republicans, a clear majority, overwhelmingly supporting the renewal of the Ex-Im Bank!  Give the American people a vote.  In the meantime, as POLITICO noted, Democrats will not give up demanding a vote on this essential job-creating Bank:

At the 90 minute-mark into a House Financial Services Committee markup up on securities bills, eight Democrats on the panel had blasted Rep. Jeb Hensarling's opposition to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank.

Democrats who support the bank's reauthorization spent much of the morning urging Hensarling and other Republicans to take up a bill reauthorizing the bank in the name of saving jobs.

"The uncertainty over the Bank's charter has already cost American businesses contracts and opportunities to grow and expand," said Rep. Maxine Waters, the ranking [Member] on House Financial Services Committee during her opening remarks.  [5/20/15]
