It's not even Halloween and Congressional Republicans are in overdrive selling tickets to the GOP's House of Mirrors. That's the only explanation for their desperate attempt to disguise their special interest agenda by adding the words "and creates jobs" onto bill descriptions that will do no such thing and claiming the Obama Administration and Senate are ignoring them.

Today marks the 294th day of Republican control of the House of Representatives. In 294 days, they have not passed a single bill to create jobs. Instead, House Republicans have repeatedly voted to end Medicare (while providing tax breaks to Big Oil and companies that ship jobs overseas), passed legislation that destroys nearly 2 million jobs (that's 10,000 jobs lost every day), and pointlessly manufactured crisis after crisis–creating economic uncertainty and hurting small businesses and the middle class.

Earlier today, House GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor abruptly canceled an economic speech he was scheduled to give at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania this afternoon after the University refused to limit the attendance of the speech to students and faculty and instead opened the event to accommodate the larger community's interest:

President Obama's statement that many of our military families will spend the holidays together is welcome news to all Americans. I commend the President for a promise made and a promise kept, honoring the U.S.-Iraq Security Agreement and the wishes of the American people to bring all our troops home by the end this year.

This announcement brings us toward the completion of a mission for which our men and women in uniform and their families have made enormous sacrifices. We thank them for their dedication, and we will never forget those we lost.
