The momentum against President Trump’s unlawful power grab is building.  Last week, the American people spoke loud and clear, as polling showed more than 60 percent disapprove of President Trump’s national emergency declaration. 

The American people have spoken.

This morning, President Trump unlawfully declared a national emergency over a crisis at the border that does not exist. The President himself even admitted that he “didn’t need to” declare an emergency but did so because he wanted to construct the border wall “much faster.” This is a power grab by a clearly desperate and disappointed President who failed to get what he wanted in Congress, and now is violating the Constitution and making America less safe, all to make good on a campaign applause line.

A new Washington Post / ABC poll finds that Americans overwhelmingly blame President Trump and Congressional Republicans for the shutdown, and reject the President's claims of a ‘crisis' at the border and his threats of declaring a national emergency to build his ineffective and expensive wall.
