Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the U.N. Human Rights Council's announcement on Israel:
"When it comes to establishing a standard of behavior for businesses in Israel, the House has spoken. On July 23, 2019, the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly noting we: ‘Oppose the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (BDS) targeting Israel, including efforts to target United States companies that are engaged in commercial activities that are legal under United States law, and all efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel.'
"Therefore, we are concerned that the U.N. Human Rights Council's announcement is not in furtherance of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
