But after delivering its urgent recommendations in 2004, the Republican Congress failed to act. Only in 2007, under the new Democratic majority, did Congress finally pass the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act, H.R. 1.

San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the Trump Administration announcement that included proposals to freeze fuel economy standards and revoke California’s ability to set auto emissions standards that protect clean air when federal standards fall short of what is needed to protect communities’ health:

When it comes to sabotaging Americans’ health care, Republicans just won’t stop.

 San Francisco – Last night, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, urging the immediate withdrawal of the Trump Administration’s proposed Title X ‘gag rule’ which would allow ideology and politics – not science – to determine the information and the health care that a woman receives from her doctor.  Leader Pelosi’s letter, also submitted as a comment on the proposed HHS rule, comes as many Members of Congress have raised questions about the Title X 'gag rule' and have pointed out that it does not reflect Congressional intent for Title X.
