Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after the House voted on a bipartisan basis to hold Trump associate Steve Bannon in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena to provide information central to the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the Capitol:

"The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the Capitol led the House, on a strong bipartisan basis, to honor its duty to pursue the truth of that dark day. Trump associate Steve Bannon has information central to this investigation and cannot be allowed to hide the truth.

As you probably observed, earlier this week, we had a moment of silence on the Floor for over 700,000 people, over – what's now almost 725,000 people who have died of COVID in the United States. This issue always is the top of our agenda in the work that we do here. I know there's lots of attention to other legislation that goes on, but this is an important priority for us.
