Speaker Pelosi, along with fellow Californians Congressman George Miller and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, placed a rose on the grave of Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant Roy Harmon, who was killed on July 12, 1944.

At a ceremony attended by members of the Thirty-First Fighter Wing, Speaker Pelosi pinned the Bronze Star Medal on Technical Sergeant Phoebus Lazaridis for extraordinary service in Afghanistan. Speaker Pelosi delivered a speech in honor of the achievement by Sergeant Lazaridis and the congratulated the Thirty-First Fighter Wing on their recent awards.
