Having returned this afternoon from a bipartisan fact-finding mission to Greenland and European capitals that focused on global warming, I have to say I am disappointed by the President's announcement today. After years of inaction and denial, on the eve of the G-8 Summit, the President has finally acknowledged the severity of the global warming threat and agreed that we need a follow-up agreement to the Kyoto Protocol that he has spent most of his Administration studiously ignoring.

Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, will hold a full committee hearing entitled "The XDR Tuberculosis Incident: A Poorly Coordinated Federal Response to an Incident with Homeland Security Implications."

The Inspector General at the Department of Justice, Glenn Fine, informed the Judiciary Committee today that he was expanding his investigation of the U.S. Attorneys issue to consider additional concerns about improper politicization taking place within the Department. Chairman John Conyers issued the following statement:

The United States Senate has already called upon the Organization of American States to respond appropriately, and the House may consider similar action soon.
