In anticipation of seeing a proposal finally from the other side of the aisle and the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue, I invited the distinguished Leader and the Democratic Leader in the Senate to join us today to have some observation about what we have seen – we thought we would have in hand; we'll see.

The Trump Administration’s elimination of the fair housing rule is a betrayal of our nation’s founding values of equality and opportunity for all. It is a shameful abdication of our government’s responsibility to end discriminatory housing practices and to lift up our nation’s most vulnerable communities.

Today, four weeks after the House passed the bipartisan George Floyd Justice In Policing Act, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA-12), Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05), Congressional Black Caucus Chair Karen Bass (CA-37) and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) called on the Republican-led Senate to take action on the legislation.

As Speaker of the House, it is my honor to enroll the Great American Outdoors Act, one of the most important conservation and public lands bills in decades.

The topic of tonight’s show isn’t new, but the growing sense of urgency to enact change is. For decades, Black and brown Americans have sounded the alarm about racially-biased policing, police brutality, misconduct and misuse of force.

I thank – Mr. Speaker, I thank the gentlewoman for yielding and appreciate her calling us together for this special order for a very special person.
