Good afternoon. We just came from a most unsatisfactory meeting at the White House.

We were invited to this meeting with the President. It comes at a very difficult time for him. Earlier today, the House of Representatives voted, what was it, 354-60 in opposition to the actions he has taken in Syria.

The President unleashed an escalation of chaos and insecurity in Syria when he gave Turkey the green light to attack our Kurdish partners – threatening lives, risking regional security and undermining America’s credibility as a trustworthy ally. The House and Senate, Democrats and Republicans, have now come together with one voice to reject the President’s dangerous, disastrous actions in Syria and demonstrate the strong, smart leadership that has sorely been lacking from the White House.

Good morning, everyone. This is really a very special day for us in the Capitol, because we are going to be talking about our H.R. 3 legislation, the Lower Drug Costs Now legislation.

Thank you very much, Congressman Ruiz, Dr. Ruiz, for your extraordinary leadership for the children. Whether they are at the border or at all throughout our country, or at the mercy of gun violence – that’s the word, mercy – in our country.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I thank the gentleman for yielding and I thank him for his support of democracy and democratic freedom in Hong Kong.

I'll begin by talking about how pleased I am with the work that our Members did during the break. As I say all the time, we are legislating, we are investigating and we are litigating.

Thank you for being here on a subject that is so important to our country: the education of our young people, of the generation to come.
